Videos I'm Watching...

Watching videos...some old and some new....from artists that I respect...
The new Neyo video...She Got Her Own...I like it...an ode to women who work hard for their own....Keri Hilson's Energy....so real and well written...Jordin Spark's One Step At A Time....such a true song about life and patience... also watching my favorite video by Snow Patrol...This one is an older song, but it's great, the melody and lyric are sooo good....and Daughtry's What About Now?
A song and video that should remind all of us how each of us matters in the grand scheme of things.....Enjoy...

Words to Live By....

I've been super busy, with lots to blog about, which I will get to soon, but in the meantime...I've given you something to read...some food for thought...

Dreams pass into the reality of action. From the actions stems the dream again; and this interdependence produces the highest form of living.

The good life is inspired by love and guided by knowledge.

Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy -- because we will always want to have something else or something more.

Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece -- by thought, choice, courage, and determination.

Love measures our stature: the more we love, the bigger we are. There is no smaller package in all the world than that of a man all wrapped up in himself.

Life is so constructed that an event does not, cannot, will not, match the expectation....

Life is like an onion: You peel it off one layer at a time, and sometimes you weep...

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

A good heart is better than all the heads in the world.

Nothing Quite Like -The Green & White....And Now It's Good For You Too!

Anyone who knows me is well aware of my insatiable affection and love of coffee......for me there's a little joy in every cup, and now as an added bonus it's actually proven to be good for your health!
Info Below:

Coffee, the much maligned but undoubtedly beloved beverage, just made headlines for possibly cutting the risk of the latest disease epidemic, type 2 diabetes. And the real news seems to be that the more you drink, the better.

After analyzing data on 126,000 people for as long as 18 years, Harvard researchers calculate that compared with not partaking in America's favorite morning drink, downing one to three cups of caffeinated coffee daily can reduce diabetes risk by single digits. But having six cups or more each day slashed men's risk by 54% and women's by 30% over java avoiders.

"Overall, the research shows that coffee is far more healthful than it is harmful," says Tomas DePaulis, PhD, research scientist at Vanderbilt University's Institute for Coffee Studies, which conducts its own medical research and tracks coffee studies from around the world. "For most people, very little bad comes from drinking it, but a lot of good."

Consider this: At least six studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson's, with three showing the more they drink, the lower the risk. Other research shows that compared to not drinking coffee, at least two cups daily can translate to a 25% reduced risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in liver cirrhosis risk, and nearly half the risk of gallstones.

Coffee even offsets some of the damage caused by other vices, some research indicates. "People who smoke and are heavy drinkers have less heart disease and liver damage when they regularly consume large amounts of coffee compared to those who don't," says DePaulis.

There's also some evidence that coffee may help manage asthma and even control attacks when medication is unavailable, stop a headache, boost mood, and even prevent cavities.

So in that case, DRINK UP!

Times Square Really Is Live

Sometimes I forget how amazing it is here.
Tonight I went out to really appreciate my surroundings.
New York is this amazing sort of organized chaos that can only be explained
by being "everything at once". At least that's how I feel about it.
It's this overwhelming combination of feeling free, anonymous, and yet also somewhat insignificant in the grand scheme of things....the towering buildings and billboards...the massive sights....sea of people...
Yet it also holds the most magical of things.....every opportunity that you could ever imagine....where nothing is impossible.

A Light In The Sky

Yesterday marked a day that will never be forgotten.
Two light beams lit up the sky to symbolize and pay tribute to where the twin towers once stood, and served as a reminder of all that was lost.

Here is a photo of the view from 5th avenue, it's blurred a bit,
because it was dark, but you can see the light beams in the background
and the light in the sky.
It was touching to see.

In The Garden....

"In the garden of thine heart plant naught but the rose of love".

-The Hidden Words

Beautiful images and words can uplift our souls the way music can.
One of my favorite writings from the Hidden Words
& a photo of gorgeous flowers from my Mother's Garden this summer.

The Lone Cabbie

I went for coffee so early this morning that the streets in Manhattan were actually almost empty....except for this one lone cabbie.....veRy rare in New York City, so I took a pic of it.
For once it was quiet on this street.
Peaceful till 8am and then there goes the whole neighbourhood.
Literally.
