In the meantime here are a few shots from the day of the shoot.

Started with Make-Up

Then onto the street scenes...IT WAS SOOO COLD.
We filmed outdoors in -15 and yes I had to think of warm sunny beaches the ENTIRE time to keep from shivering on film. It was FREEZING!
But we must sacrifice for our art...(even if it did mean minor frostbite) ;(

Fortunately we started outside, and we got to film indoors for the rest of the day...

A Walk In The Clouds...

This was the view of the city yesterday.
Vancouver immersed in the dense fog that has lingered for the past week...the high rises peeking through makes it look like you could step out for a walk in the clouds...it looks so inviting, but driving up the mountain in it wasn't fun.
However it was definitely worth the view. :)

Holiday Highlights :)

Here are a few holiday highlights & pix....
This is the short version, as the holiday is still in progress ;)

First, there was the tedious task of getting through all the airport traffic...

And the copious amounts of snow....there was definitely a lot of it.....

Once I made it through that, I got to the best part of any holiday, which is friends & family, holiday dinners & parties....some pix of me with the girls....

And of course there's these adorable two that I get to play with every holiday season...lol....I wish I could take them with me...so much fun.

It's been so great to just relax with the family and catch up on everything.

The Things To Remember & The Things To Forget...

Do you ever feel like you just can't get it all together?

Well you can't get everything done in one day, and sometimes life can overwhelm you, and sometimes it will feel like there is just too much to do.
But remember this....this quote is in my favorite book of quotes that my mother gave me.....
"Trying to have it all together is like trying to eat once and for all."
This is impossible.

You have to eat 3 times a day, and like it or not, one meal won't hold you for the rest of your life.
And having it all togther 100% of the time is just not going to happen.
So before you lose your mind or yell at the starbucks barista -
Watch this, and you will feel better.

Don't be so hard on yourself, try not to worry so much, don't sweat the small stuff, and for God's sake have a little fun & enjoy your life!

Apparently it came out years ago, but I was just introduced to it now, and I love it.

Kanye West "Heartless" - Remix

As many of you know, Kanye West is back again with yet another phenomenal album: "808's & HeartBreak" -
IN STORES NOW, which includes the single "Heartless", > an ode to love lost.

And being that I'm such a huge Kanye supporter, it only made sense that I do a remix to my favorite song on the album, "Heartless".

His song tells the very personal story of losing his girl, which many people - especially guys around the world - can relate to.
And in appreciation for the song, I felt it only fair to share the ladies side.
So here it is...
(I must say it was very strange to hear my voice with the auto tune effect on it....
I definitely prefer my voice without that newly widespread auto tune effect...
but in keeping with this song's theme, I tried it out...)

There are two sides to every story, and my version goes a little something like this.......

A Day In The Life.....

"A DAY IN THE LIFE OF BEING LLOYD'S GIRL".... :)

So on Saturday I went to check out Lloyd's show.
I had a great time chatting with him about his tour, his new album, and how the song "A Day In The Life" that I wrote for him came to be.
It ended up as a bonus track on his album, because he had written so many other songs for it.
If you haven't picked up "Lessons On Love" yet, make sure you do, because it really is an amazing album.
We are going to switch roles in the new year, and let him write something for my album :) I'm excited to see what he comes up with.
It will be strange to have somebody else write a song that I perform, which is how he probably felt I'm sure, being that he also writes all his own material.
He's a great writer as well as an amazing singer/entertainer, and so sweet.
Yet another huge talent from Atlanta.

California Love

So yes I am in fact in La La Land as they say....LA
Where the weather is warm, the trees are palms, and the Starbucks line is loooooong.
Believe that! I must say I do find it wonderful though that everyone here seems to share the same affection for it that I do. ;)
My trip to the Entertainment Mecca has been great so far.
I am loving California.
From Santa Monica to Hollywood, Beverly Hills to Studio City, through The Valley and back again....these are my adventures so far... :)

First stop was Santa Monica....

This photo looks surreal...these houses looked like they weren't real...but they definitely are....

At the Marina where they filmed the famous "Aquaman" movie scenes for
the Entourage series....

The Beach was so peaceful...It looked like it wanted to rain...but it didn't rain until the next day....

We walked along the Santa Monica boardwalk and we each picked out our future houses...
I chose the terracotta one with the spiral staircases up to the deck....it was beautiful...right next to the beach...and priced at a modest 5 million...only ;)

Then to Beverly Hills...

Had to take a pic of this....thought it was hilarious....I somehow imagined a Beverly Hills cab as a little more glamorous...guess not though...lol

Visiting friends in the Beverly burbs...

Then off to my sessions...

First stop - Universal Music -

On my way into their Publishing Office & Studio Building...

Which was amazing...Their studio facility was exactly what you'd expect from
the world's largest music & entertainment group.

Our Team organizing the tracks for the day...

The studio has a huge live room & this piano is literally grand.
Elton John last played on it while recording in LA.

This is where I recorded my vocals...

The sessions have been going well, and I'm back at it again 2mara, well I should say today....it's late here now. It's been crazy busy, but the songs are coming out great and I'm enjoying it. I'm blessed to be here.
I have many more pix to add, but I must get some sleep, so that is the start of my updates today, I will add more pix and video blogs this week......

A Triumphant Moment In History

We watched as our world as we know it changed.
Barack Obama was Elected as the next President Tuesday night.
In a historic victory, the Illinois senator becomes the first African-American to win the presidency.

During his speech he said...
"It's the answer that led those who've been told for so long by so many to be cynical and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day."

It was truly an emotional and triumphant moment in history.
Proof that people want change, and are ready to embrace it & heal the divides, to establish unity and advance as a soceity.
We have entered into a new era of hope & progress, and tonight was very symbolic of that.

All Hail Britney Spears. The Pop Diva did it again.
Despite the britney haters, the negative backlash surrounding her, and the insatiable paparazzi at her heels;
Britney Spears, my dears, is back.
Britney secured her comeback success with her new single, "Womanizer," as it leapt to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart this week from No. 96 last week, the biggest jump ever. Ever? Yes Ever.

So what have we learned here?
Well for starters, it doesn't matter how much you misbehave in public,
or how many bad photos of you are published, or how many unattractive video clips of you air if you have a hot song. Clearly.
It somehow magically erases it all.

Britney fans everywhere have been waiting and wishing with all their might,
that Brit would make a huge comeback, if only the pop princess could get it right?!
Well that appears to be the case now, and after all the scrutiny that she has had to endure, living under the microscope for so long, it's great so see her reclaim her spot back at the top.
Being Pop's Diva, she has had to experience what none of us can even imagine, zero privacy, with a 24-7 camera lens capturing her every mishap, and screw up.
At some point everyone forgot that she was human, and Britney pix became a free for all, for anyone to cash in on.
I'm sure she's tried, but good luck finding that non-existent place where the paparazzi won't follow you.

However at the end of the day, Britney is definitely getting the last laugh.

And I'm not mad at that.
There is nothing more rewarding than being underestimated, and coming out on top.
Go on girl.

On Tuesday, several of the competitors on Trump's Celebrity Apprentice took to the streets to sell cupcakes as one of their team challenges.

I was in Times Square and happened to be filmed in a segment of the show, during which I got some photos with these two guys....the funny man & the skate legend.
They baked the cupcakes themselves at the Culinary Institute.

Dennis Rodman hid from cameras in the Cupcake truck, while Brian Mcknight acted very Hollywood with fans, even refusing ppl photographs....sheesh Brian, we haven't seen you in like 5 years, you'd think he would jump at a good photo opp.
It was indeed very entertaining to say the least. :)

Anyone who knows me is well aware of my insatiable affection and love of coffee......for me there's a little joy in every cup, and now as an added bonus it's actually proven to be good for your health!

Coffee, the much maligned but undoubtedly beloved beverage, just made headlines for possibly cutting the risk of the latest disease epidemic, type 2 diabetes. And the real news seems to be that the more you drink, the better.

After analyzing data on 126,000 people for as long as 18 years, Harvard researchers calculate that compared with not partaking in America's favorite morning drink, downing one to three cups of caffeinated coffee daily can reduce diabetes risk by single digits. But having six cups or more each day slashed men's risk by 54% and women's by 30% over java avoiders.

"Overall, the research shows that coffee is far more healthful than it is harmful," says Tomas DePaulis, PhD, research scientist at Vanderbilt University's Institute for Coffee Studies, which conducts its own medical research and tracks coffee studies from around the world. "For most people, very little bad comes from drinking it, but a lot of good."

Consider this: At least six studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson's, with three showing the more they drink, the lower the risk. Other research shows that compared to not drinking coffee, at least two cups daily can translate to a 25% reduced risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in liver cirrhosis risk, and nearly half the risk of gallstones.

Coffee even offsets some of the damage caused by other vices, some research indicates. "People who smoke and are heavy drinkers have less heart disease and liver damage when they regularly consume large amounts of coffee compared to those who don't," says DePaulis.

There's also some evidence that coffee may help manage asthma and even control attacks when medication is unavailable, stop a headache, boost mood, and even prevent cavities.

So in that case, DRINK UP!

Sometimes I forget how amazing it is here.
Tonight I went out to really appreciate my surroundings.
New York is this amazing sort of organized chaos that can only be explained
by being "everything at once". At least that's how I feel about it.
It's this overwhelming combination of feeling free, anonymous, and yet also somewhat insignificant in the grand scheme of things....the towering buildings and billboards...the massive sights....sea of people...
Yet it also holds the most magical of things.....every opportunity that you could ever imagine....where nothing is impossible.

A Light In The Sky

Yesterday marked a day that will never be forgotten.
Two light beams lit up the sky to symbolize and pay tribute to where the twin towers once stood, and served as a reminder of all that was lost.

Here is a photo of the view from 5th avenue, it's blurred a bit,
because it was dark, but you can see the light beams in the background
and the light in the sky.
It was touching to see.

I went for coffee so early this morning that the streets in Manhattan were actually almost empty....except for this one lone cabbie.....veRy rare in New York City, so I took a pic of it.
For once it was quiet on this street.

"Activate" Is Activated Ahead of Schedule...

The Smash Single "Activate" that we did for Cassie, got leaked this week.
This was unfortunate because it wasn't supposed to be out until the fall....however Cassie has a widespread fan base and keeping her new music under wraps has proven a tough task, with several leaks of her music in the past few months.
Her new album is greatly anticipated, so fans are hot on her heels for new music.

I was in the studio with her in June, when we tracked this, and the song wasn't supposed to be released until the fall.
However, Cassie's current single "Official Girl" had a similar leak prior to it's official release, which thankfully didn't hinder the record from becoming a smash hit at radio, and now - smash video with it's premiere on MTV yesterday, which also features Lil'Wayne.

The great thing is that all the blogs and comments on the song have been very positive, with some people even calling "Activate" her best song to date.

"A DAY IN THE LIFE"

LLOYD'S "LESSONS IN LOVE" IN STORES TODAY!!!
I wrote the bonus track called

"A DAY IN THE LIFE".....

Yep, that's right kids.

It's August 5th, which means you have one extra thing to do, beyond your normal daily routine, and that is to buy the new Lloyd album "Lessons In Love"!
And not just because he's a great artist and you love him, and not only because you love his new smash single "Girls Around The World" Feat. Lil'Wayne,
but also because I'm a great writer and you love me!!! Lol..... Reason being?

I wrote a song on the Album called "A Day In The Life" which is actually the bonus track on this album.
Irv Gotti produced it, I wrote it, Lloyd sang it, and it made his album.
So it can't get much better than that right?! ;)

It was a special record for me because not only did Irv ask me to write it specifically for Lloyd, but they also had VH1 in the studio during the recording session in Atlanta when Lloyd tracked the song.
SOOO, you will get an inside look at the making of the record, and the story behind it.
It will air in a segment about how this song came to be, and the story of how I came to work with Irv on this record.
That will air on Season Two of "Gotti's Way",
the reality series documenting just that -
"A DAY IN THE LIFE" of the music mogul & his Inc Records.

A Good Day To Start

Today seemed like a good day to finally start my blog.
Many thanks to my friends that have encouraged me to get going on this.

With so much on the go, and much of my time spent writing, it seems a natural evolution that I join the amazing world of the blog, and get involved.

I've been so busy that I've almost forgotten everything I've done recently, so what better way to keep track of things, than to have it all on here to reflect upon, as well as to keep friends, fam & fans updated on what's new.

So yes, I am now officially joining you. Yay!
For all of you who are experienced bloggers, be easy on me....
you'll have to bear with me as I learn how to blog... :)
I'm still trying to figure this out, layouts, settings, spacing, postings....so much to know...lol
I'm not sure I'll have time to write & update this every single day, but I'll aim for every other day, and see how that works.

What I need to do next is figure out how to link this blog to my myspace music community... to my multiple myspace pages (which, yes, yes, I know, many of you have commented on.... and yes, I'm in the process of streamlining the four into one main page...they do each serve a different purpose, but now it's getting too hard to manage....clearly...lol)

Updates on that soon.
I'll start 2mara evening on the recap of what's been happening for me -"Summer 08" -thus far!
